TIME: 8:00 A.M. TO 12:00 P.M.
Saturday school is open to all NCMS students. Students have the opportunity to attend Saturday School to receive extra support in all core subjects (Math, English, Social Science and Science). Saturday School is also used to clear up an absence and/or tardies. When a student falls behind, or is absent, he/she is encouraged to attend Saturday school to get caught up. It’s a positive environment focused on support.
Teachers often will invite students to participate in Saturday school to offer targeted assistance. Please encourage your child to attend when an invitation is extended by their teacher.
The State of California sees the primary purpose of Saturday School to recover attendance. Whether an absence is excused or not, the only way the State clears an absence is through attendance at Saturday school. Students will be asked to attend a Saturday school for every absence incurred. When students incur 8 tardies, they will be asked to attend a Saturday School to clear them as well.
We, at NCM, see Saturday School as a way to provide students access to a core subject teacher and internet in order to be successful and productive with their academic goals.
Saturday school may be assigned as a disciplinary consequence for behavior infractions. Under this circumstance, students are asked to bring work with them when they serve the Saturday School. They will participate in the same manner as other students with teachers receiving academic support.
